Experience contemporary glass art in a breathtakingly beautiful museum on Tacoma's revitalized waterfront. The Museum of Glass provides a dynamic learning environment to appreciate the medium of glass through creative experiences, collections and exhibitions. Feel the heat as you watch a team of artists create masterpieces from molten glass in the Hot Shop Amphitheater, the Museum's working glass studio. The Museum of Glass offers a variety of kids activities as well as edgy exhibitions of 20th- and 21st-century glass in the galleries. Participate in a hands-on art project, watch original documentary films about glass art and the artists who create it, shop for stunning gifts in the store and stroll across the remarkable Chihuly Bridge of Glass.
Admission
Free for members, $12 general, $10 seniors, military and students (13+ with ID), $5 groups of 10 or more, $4 children (6-12) years old. Children under 6 are admitted free.
Admission is free every third Thursday of the month from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Closed on New Year's Day, second Saturday of September, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Location
Located on downtown Tacoma's Thea Foss Waterway. Take I-5 to Tacoma (from either north or south). Take exit #133 (City Center) to I-705 north. Take the S. 21st St. Exit. Turn left onto S. 21st St. Turn right onto Pacific Ave. Turn right onto Hood St. Turn right at stop sign onto S. 15th St., which becomes a ramp that curves to left. Turn left onto Dock St. The Museum of Glass is on the left.There is a parking garage under the building.
