Underground Tour-Pioneer Square Seattle
"Hilarious, who knew history could be such fun! "- New York Post
History with humor. Walk below Pioneer Square sidewalks, past abandoned 1890's storefronts, with exceptional tour guides telling tales of Seattle's frontier past. Learn how our Founding Fathers' squabbling let to Seattle's complicated street system, and how the solutions to our plumbing problems affected the town's elevation. You'll hear the first part of the tour seated in Doc Maynard's, a restored 1890's public house.
From there, your guide will lead you along the sidewalks of our historic district, and into the areas below, which have been unoccupied since 1907.
The tour lasts 1 and ˝ hours. Dress for weather outside, wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a sense of humor. If you come a little early you can find great gifts in our underground Rogues Gallery. You can also enjoy a quick snack or get lunch at the Underground Tour Café before or after the tour. A written text is available in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Italian, German, French, Spanish and Russian. Group rates and private parties are available.
Tours operate year round. Schedule varies month to month.
