Woodland Park Zoo:
Award-winning Zoo, Seattle

Woodland Park Zoo is hailed as one of the finest zoos in the world for its award-winning naturalistic exhibits.

More than 300 animal species from around the world and a thousand plant species are displayed in the 92-acre botanical garden. And, the must-see attraction is just minutes from downtown Seattle!

Encounter gorillas, birds, reptiles, orangutans, elephants and more. Go nose-to-nose with a jaguar in a tropical rain forest. Go Down Under and feed Australian parrots in a walk-thru aviary (additional fee for feed sticks; hours vary seasonally). Safari to Africa for sweeping views of giraffes, zebras and monkeys. Trek to the far north for grizzly bears and otters. Enjoy free-flying butterflies and colorful blooms in a seasonal butterfly exhibit. And explore the indoor, all-season Zoomazium - a nature play space where kids can connect with nature through the natural language of childhood - play! The zoo also features an award-winning Rose Garden, an indoor/outdoor restaurant and the ZooStore.

Education Classes at the Zoo

Going Pink Next Summer

The zoo will soon be flocked in pink – no, not plastic lawn ornament flamingos, but the real deal. The pink-feathered birds, Chilean flamingos, will make their debut in a new exhibit opening May 24, 2009. Join in on the zoo’s “flamingo flocking” as these gregarious, long-legged and long-necked birds tickle you pink.

Get Animal Smart – Education Classes at the Zoo

A host of zoo classes and programs are offered at the zoo year-round for everyone – infants and toddlers, grade schoolers and adults. Discover a range of wildlife topics from animal defenses, baby signing and animals, to butterfly migration, birding and creating your own backyard habitat. Also check out Zooper Day Camps offered during school breaks and Zoo Overnight and Evening Adventures. For more information, call 206.684.4841 or visit www.zoo.org and click on Education.
